Fast vs. Slow Twitch Muscles Explained
Sprint and Olympic distance are what we like to call short courses. 1/2 and Full Ironman are what we like to say are long courses. What also makes them very different is how you train aerobic vs anaerobic to work slow-twitch vs fast-twitch muscle groups respectively. Or put another way, low intensity vs. high intensity. While that sounds very confusing, here is a great video that explains the difference between the two muscle groups and while training plans need to be customized to handle your appropriate distant of your target key or “A” race.
